Continuity of Cover

A 5-Step Renewal Process

Waiting period credits and No-Claim Bonus benefits depend on renewing on time. Reminders and an annual review from your Advisor help you keep both, year after year.

01

Early Reminder

You receive reminders on WhatsApp, SMS or email before the policy expires, so there is time to review and renew.

02

Annual Portfolio Review

Your Advisor checks whether your sum insured, add-ons and members still fit your needs, and whether a top-up makes sense.

03

Bonus & Discount Check

We check that the No-Claim Bonus or discount you are entitled to is reflected in the renewal premium.

04

Pay the Insurer Directly

You pay through the insurer's official payment channels. Distroo never asks you to pay premiums to a personal account.

05

Renewed Documents

The renewed policy schedule is shared with you by email once the insurer issues it, and your Advisor helps you file it safely.

A family with continuous health and life protection

Renew on Time. Protect Your Benefits.

Renewing without a break helps you keep waiting period credit and bonuses, as per your policy terms.

Why Choose Distroo

Keeping your cover continuous, year after year.

Letting a health or term policy lapse can be costly. Buying again after a break may restart waiting periods, may need fresh medical checks and could mean higher premiums or exclusions. Your Advisor tracks your renewal dates and reviews your policy so your family is not left unprotected.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions on Renewals

Answers to common questions about grace periods, bonuses, porting and lapsed policies.

Health policies generally have a grace period of 30 days after the due date for annual premiums (check your policy for details). If you pay within this window, continuity benefits such as waiting period credit and bonuses are generally preserved. Any hospitalisation during the grace period, before the premium is paid, is not covered.
In many health plans a claim-free year increases your cover by a percentage set by the plan, up to a stated maximum. In motor insurance, the No Claim Bonus gives a discount on the own-damage premium, in slabs that rise with each claim-free year. Your Advisor checks that the bonus appears in the renewal quote.
Yes. Renewal is a good time to review your cover. You can ask the insurer to increase the sum insured, subject to underwriting, or add a super top-up policy. The increased portion may carry fresh waiting periods.
IRDAI's portability rules let you move your health policy to another insurer at renewal. You should apply to the new insurer well before the renewal date, usually 30 to 60 days before expiry, as insurers ask. Distroo explains the options, helps with the portability application and the transfer of waiting period credit already served, subject to the new insurer's underwriting.
We can guide you. If a motor policy has expired, the insurer may ask for an inspection before issuing a new policy, and you may lose No-Claim Bonus if you renew after the period allowed by the insurer. Your Advisor explains the steps and the insurer's requirements.
